Whitewater rafting

Post by zataks »

Hoping to take my kids on their first whitewater rafting trip of the season tomorrow, provide flows are low enough. The river is dam controlled but snowmelt has been so great releases have been way bigger than I would take them on. Last weekend things were 'normal' for where we go so I'm hoping this weekend will be as well.

It's a couple miles of drop/pool class 2 at something like 17'/mile drop. We normally take a break or two to play on the shore and eat and everyone generally has a blast.

Anyone else into whitewater? Anyone else in the Sacramento area?

My wife and I did it once a few years ago, but it was pretty beginner level. It was fun, but I don't think I can afford to get into a new hobby and the kiddo is still too little. We did go into the North Cascades for a boat tour last weekend though, and she did okay. Maybe that's step one.
